Decanter's Italian Fine Wine Encounter

A press release drops into my inbox from Decanter. It's addressed to those of us active in social media in wine asking us to think about what we would most look forward to tasting at this prestigious event on 19 May.

That's easy..........

First of all the regions - Friuli, Veneto, Puglia, Alto Adige

Then there's the grapes.......

Friulano, Trebbiano, Teroldego, Marzemino, Negroamaro, Primitivo

And to think I haven't even mentioned the "usual suspects". By that I mean the traditional more mainstream names that roll off people's tongues when they think of Italian wine such as Chianti, Barolo and Soave.

But that's the attraction of Italy. There are so many grapes and so many regions with so many styles and it appears from the exhibitor list that whether your interest is more mainstream or, in my case, the more unusual you won't be disappointed by this event.
